Some seven months after its launch, Sunway Group’s daftar situs judi slot online terpercaya non-profit incubator, Sunway iLabs has undertaken initiatives to increase its regional and international reach for its users.
Matt van Leuween, director of Sunway iLabs, said part of Sunway iLabs’ ambitions is to connect to Asean and other startup hotbeds around the world such as Silicon Valley.
One of the initiatives around this was the TechMatch ASEAN 2017, a two-day pitch marathon co-organised with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and the US Market Access Center Inc (USMAC) from Silicon Valley. USMAC describes itself as a business accelerator and trade gateway into the US for high-tech international companies.
The event connected 40 Asean-based startups with a group of 20 corporate investors, venture capitalists and business angels from Silicon Valley and other parts of the world.
Among those who attended were Garage Technology Ventures managing partner Bill Reichert, Alchemist managing partner Ravi Belani, Wharton Angels investor Steve Adelman and UC Berkeley managing director of Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology Ken Singer.
Sunway iLabs was also recently certified as MDEC’s Malaysia’s fifth digital hub.
Malaysia Digital Hub is awarded to MDEC’s participating partners to catalyse the economy by attracting and maintaining startups and its ecosystems, focusing on high speed broadband and soft offerings.
Matt added, “As a Malaysia Digital Hub, we will now be able to link startups to programmes such as the Malaysian Tech Entrepreneur Programme which provides end-to-end support for start-up communities beyond Asia who want to base their business in Malaysia”.
Matt also said that Sunway iLabs is now offering RM2mil to up to 10 startups early next year through its iLabs Accelerator Programme. Applications are open now till December 31, 2017.
The iLabs Accelerator programme will offer a link to the Sunway Group as a test bed on top of the RM2mil in seed funding, technology and legal resources.
“What differentiates us from the other accelerator programmes is that our startups will have access to Sunway Group’s resources across 12 business lines. This means that they will have a wide market as a potential test bed, as well as access to Sunway University’s labs, researchers, and potential interns, especially from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Entrepreneurship. We believe that we have a good shot at building successful startups by giving them access to three pivotal M’s: Money, Market and Mentors,” he added.
The iLabs Accelerator is built around a personalised experience to deliver a successful startup at the end of six months. Instead of sitting in classrooms, entrepreneurs will receive customised one-on-one sessions and exclusive networking dinners with experienced entrepreneurs and advisors to share insights and personal experiences.
