Guided tour of over 40km of the Surf Coast Walk. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to include The Grampians on my trip so I finished my day in Port Fairy, a tiny little town on an estuary by the beach. There is a short boardwalk here on the cliff top that gives you beautiful views of the coastline. The other places that i like to visit are Great Otway National Park (The 800m rainforest walk & Triplet Falls) & Kennett River.
It then crosses into the South Australian border and enjoys some of the state’s gorgeous beaches before entering Adelaide, South Australia’s capital. It is about 90 minutes from Melbourne to the beginning of the Ocean Road. We make an end to end walk on Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Walk achievable and enjoyable on this 7-day tour with 6 days of walking. At a minimum, we strongly recommend choosing a two or three day tour, to really make the most of your visit and to not feel rushed.
Exploring the great ocean roadTours Ocean Road has to be on most people’s bucket list when they visit Australia. Australians have become day-to-day experts on what can kill you and how to avoid it. At the end of the day, just follow this easy advice: if you don’t see any Australians doing it, then don’t do it yourself. Apollo Bay is another decent sized town on the Great Ocean Road and it’s also a popular place to stop for a night.
Hi David, if yo are looking for some trekking as well I may suggest to visit the Great Otway National Park. This is the spot on the Great Ocean Road tour to move away from the gorgeous coastline and into a forest perspective. Whether you are camping in a tent, traveling by Wildlifetours or looking for a cabin the Port Campbell Holiday Park is the best option in town.
The 12 Apostles parking is around 3-400 meters from the platform, but flat and easy to walk. Australians are quite fond the ocean. The Great Ocean Road isn’t the easiest of roads to drive on.
